The Best Breakfast and Brunch in Amsterdam

Whether you are visiting Amsterdam for a few days or you are living here, it’s always good to know where to have a great breakfast or brunch in town! I lived in Amsterdam for 2 years and I am a French foodie, so I went on a hunt for the cafes and lunchrooms that could satisfy my taste buds. Great news: I found many and I am sharing them with you today! Here are the best places for brunch and breakfast in Amsterdam!

Bakers and Roasters is one of the best and most popular places for breakfast and brunch in Amsterdam. I will for sure put it at the top of the list! The ambiance and the cuisine are inspired by both New Zealand and Brazil. Therefore, the food is delicious! The focus is really put on the quality above all: they are serving with sustainable, organic and seasonal food, and working with local suppliers.

What you will find on the menu: granola bowl, Bircher muesli, sweet and savory pancake stack, eggs dishes, meaty breakfast plates, burgers and salads. They also bake a great variety of homemade cakes. And of course any drink you like: coffee, teas, lattes, juices, milkshakes, cocktails, beers and wine…

Vegetarian options, vegan options and gluten-free options.

What I recommend: everything is good! I ate there several times and I have never been disappointed. Even if I am full, I always order some cake at the end because they look so tempting (and you can take it to go 😉 ).

My secret tip: this place is very popular so if you do not come at the opening, you will have to queue. It can take up to 1h to get a table during the weekend. But the good thing is that they take your phone number when you ask for a table. They will send you a SMS 5 minutes before your table is ready, so you can explore the area while waiting 🙂 .

Location:

  • DE PIJP (the first address): First Jacob van Campenstraat 54, 1072 BH Amsterdam. Open every day 8:30 – 21:00 (except some bank holidays).
  • KADIJKSPLEIN: Kadijksplein 16, 1018 AC Amsterdam. Open every day 8:30 – 16:00 (except some bank holidays).

Benji’s

Benji’s was one of the last places I discovered before I moved out of Amsterdam, and I felt in love at first sight! It’s definitely one of the best places for brunch and breakfast in Amsterdam. Such a pity that I discovered it so late… The best way to describe Benji’s is an urban jungle: the decoration is a mix of raw industrial style with a lot of plants and some colorful artworks, and the food is Bali inspired! The ambiance is very cool, the food is amazing and the meals are full of colors!

What you will find on the menu: granola bowl, smoothie bowls, buns, wraps, salads, pastries and cakes. And for drink: coffees, teas, lattes, sodas, juices and wines.

Many Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy free options.

What I recommend: the tropical bowl! It’s full of fruits, yummy and so photogenic!

My secret tip: It’s the best place to go if you want to escape a rainy or a stressful day! It’s like entering a tropical bubble!
