In spring, Paris is blessed with some beautiful wisteria blooming all over the city! These pretty lilac flowers are creating a magical atmosphere in the streets of Paris and adding some fairy tales vibes to it! Here is the list of all the best places to see wisteria in Paris! I have gathered not only the most famous and iconic places but also some hidden gems that you might like to discover 😉 . You will find here all the exact locations and my local tips for you to enjoy these wisteria spots in Paris at their best! Are you ready for wisteria hysteria in Paris?!

Do not miss my complete guide for Paris in spring if you want to know about all the blooms in the city of love and romance!

Wisteria is a climbing shrub offering hanging clusters of fragrant pale bluish-lilac flowers in the spring. They start blooming around Mid-April in Paris. Be aware that the blooming season can vary from -/+ 2 weeks depending on the weather, so be ready to chase wisteria earlier if needed! FIY, the wisteria blooms last for maximum 2 weeks from the very beginning to the very end. You have around 5 days/ 1 week to see the full bloom.

If you visit Paris in the springtime, check out my blooming calendar to know which flowers are blooming when! If you missed the wisteria, you might see some cherry blossoms, some roses or some other blooms that will surprise you!

Wisteria at the Vieux Paris d’Arcole

Au Vieux Paris d’Arcole is one of the cutest cafes in Paris! This charming traditional French restaurant is located on Île de la Cité close to Notre Dame. It was built in 1512 and used to be a canon’s house, but it was then turned into a wine bar in 1723.

It features a magnificent wisteria on its façade with impressive dimensions: 7 meters height over 22 meters length! No doubt: it’s one of the best places to see wisteria in Paris!

The cute purple tables in the front are matching nicely with the color of the wisteria. And the restaurant is also very romantic inside!

Location: Au Vieux Paris d’Arcole

My secret tip: the purple tables and chairs are always in front of the restaurant even when it’s not open. So, it’s easy to take a picture here before the opening if you want to be alone in the photo!

Wisteria at la Grande Mosquée de Paris

La Grande Mosquée de Paris (the Great Mosque of Paris) is one of the largest mosques in France. It’s located in the heart of the 5th arrondissement near the Jardin des Plantes, one of the best parks and gardens in Paris. You can visit it and you will get the opportunity to admire its beautiful architecture inside, its library and its outdoor garden. In spring this luxurious garden is absolutely magical, as it’s full of wisteria: a purple dream! You shouldn’t miss it as it’s one of the very best places to see wisteria in Paris!

Its enchanting environment will help you escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. You will feel like you are in Morocco!  Therefore, I highly recommend visiting la Grande Mosquée de Paris if you are in Paris in spring!

La Grande Mosquée is open for tourists every day except on Fridays (and days of Muslim celebrations). The entrance is only 3€.

Dress code: remember you are visiting a mosque, so please be decent and respectful. There is no specific dress code at the entrance and you don’t need to cover your hair. But avoid showing your shoulders, a deep cleavage or wearing short skirts or short dresses.

Location: La Grande Mosquée de Paris

My secret tip: You will find inside the mosque a traditional restaurant and a tea room serving amazing mint tea, pastries and loukoums! You should take some time to see here for lunch or for an afternoon tea.

Wisteria at the Eiffel Tower

How about a combo with the Eiffel Tower and some wisteria? “Is this even possible?!”, I guess you will ask! Well, yes it is! If you walk along the banks of the river Seine between the bridge of Bir Hakeim and the Pont d’Iéna, you will stumble upon a scenic spot with wisteria and a weeping willow with the Eiffel Tower as a background! It’s for sure one of the top wisteria spots in Paris and one of the first ones to bloom!

Location: Wisteria at Port Debilly with an Eiffel Tower view

My secret tip: There might be some cars parked in front of the wisteria when you go there. They belong to the owners of the boats mooring along that wharf. In that case you might have to be smart to capture your photos!

Wisteria in Le Marais at Maison Européenne de la Photographie

If you wander around in the charming district of Le Marais (in the 4th arrondissement) near the metro St Paul, you can admire a beautiful wall topped with wisteria! It’s located in rue de Fourcy in front the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (European house of photography).

Location: Wisteria in Le Marais at Maison Européenne de la Photographie

My secret tip: I recommend checking the exhibition at Maison Européenne de la Photographie. This center for contemporary photographic art features regularly some very interesting artists and exhibitions!

Wisteria in La Cité Florale

La Cité Florale is one of those rare neighborhoods in Paris that look like a little village. Walking here is like stepping into a fairy tale as all the houses are very cute! It’s located in the 13th arrondissement near the Parc Montsouris in the south of Paris. Although it’s not very far from where I live, I only discovered this place last year! Paris will never cease to surprise me! The prettiest street in La Cité Florale in spring is named rue des glycines – glycine actually means wisteria in French 😉 . In this street you will find a giant wisteria covering a full façade of a house! It’s absolutely stunning! Therefore, I had to add this hidden gem to the list of the best places to see wisteria in Paris.

On a side note, all the other streets in this area bear the names of flowers, hence the reason why it’s called “la Cité Florale” (the floral city).

Location: Wisteria in la Cité Florale

My secret tip: this neighborhood is quiet, so please respect its inhabitants if you wander around here!

Wisteria in La Campagne à Paris

Paris has many hidden gems and la campagne à Paris is one of those! The name of this cute neighborhood located in the 20th arrondissement in the north of Paris means literally “the countryside in Paris”. This charming area looks like a little village and is very picturesque! Wisteria is blooming here and there in this area, so the best is to just get lost in the streets to stumble on it and admire all the pretty corners as you go!

Location: La Campagne à Paris

My secret tip: My favorite spot is the alley bordered by wisteria called rue camille Bombois! This neighborhood is quiet, so please respect its inhabitants if you wander around here!
