09 Jan The Most Romantic Places in Paris
There is a good reason why Paris is called the “City of Love”! Paris is really a magical city! Indeed there are plenty of places perfect for a romantic stroll or just to seat and enjoy the view. Whether you are visiting the French capital with a loved one, or by yourself looking for lovely spots to inspire your imagination, this article is for you! I am sharing here the most romantic places in Paris, so that you never forget your visit here!
The Pont des Arts in Paris is nicknamed the “love locks bridge”. Since 2008, tourists have taken to attaching padlocks (love locks) with their names to the railing or the grate on the side of the bridge, then throwing the key into the Seine river below, as a romantic gesture. But in 2014, part of the parapet on the bridge collapsed under the weight of all of the padlocks that had been attached to it: over a million locks were placed, weighing approximately 45 tons! Therefore the City Hall of Paris replaced the panels of the bridge with glass panels so that locks cannot be attached.
Nevertheless this bridge has still one of the most beautiful view of Paris as you can see here! If you are looking for one of the most romantic places during your trip to Paris, this one is definitely recommended!
Address: Pont des Arts 75006 Paris.
Closest Metro stations: Pont Neuf (line 7), Louvre-Rivoli (line 1), and Palais Royal Musée du Louvre (line 1 and 7).
Eiffel Tower from the quays of the Seine
I guess you would love to admire the most famous landmark of Paris far away from the crowd! One of the great places to see the Eiffel Tower from close up with almost no one around is the quays of the Seine by Iena bridge. Once you are in front of the Iena Bridge facing the Eiffel Tower, just walk down the stairs on the left or on the right side and take it all in!
Every night, from sunset to 1am (2am in summer), the Eiffel tower is sparkling for 5 minutes every hour at the beginning of the hour. It’s absolutely magical! I highly recommend you to enjoy it from this place!
Address: Pont d’Iéna 75116 Paris.
Closest Metro stations: Trocadéro (line 6 and 9) and Gare Champ de Mars Tour Eiffel (RER C).

Montmartre
The neighborhood of Montmartre looks like a village within the capital city. It really reunites all the clichés you might have about Paris! It’s really charming and perfect for pictures! The best way to discover it is to get lost in the streets, and to walk up and down the numerous stairs in the area. This is the kind of places that can make you forget that you are in Paris!
Here are the most romantic places in Montmartre:
- The carousel in front of the Sacré-Coeur basilica in Square Louise Michel.
- Square Marcel Bleustein Blanchet with a lovely view of the Sacré-Coeur basilica.
- Rue de l’abreuvoir, the street where you can find the famous Maison Rose restaurant. The whole driveway is bordered with beautiful houses.
Address: Montmartre 75018 Paris
Closest Metro stations: Anvers and Blanche on line 2, and Abbesses and Lamarck Caulaincourt on line 12.
Jardin du Luxembourg
The Garden of Luxembourg is located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. It is very beautiful in all seasons, therefore it is my favorite garden in Paris! Inside you can find the beautiful Fontaine de Médicis. There is also a big bassin around the one you can sit.
Address: Jardin du Luxembourg 75006 Paris
Closest Metro stations: St Germain des Près (line 4), Mabillon (line 10), St Sulpice (line 4), Luxembourg (RER B), Rennes (line 12).
Pont Alexandre III
This is definitely the most elegant bridge of Paris and one of my favorite! It is a good area to wander appreciate the beautiful view over the Seine river, the Eiffel Tower, the Invalides and the Grand and Petit Palais. I recommend you to watch the sunset from here, so romantic!
Address: Pont Alexandre III 75008 Paris
Closest Metro stations: Invalides (line 8 and 13 and RER C) or Champs Élysées Clemenceau (line 1 and 13)
Place des Vosges in Le Marais
The Place des Vosges is the oldest planned square in Paris. Walking inside the park is real pleasure: you feel like you are in a peaceful cocoon away for the busyness of the city! It is one of the most charming spots in Paris!
Another beautiful place around Place des Vosges is Le Pavillon de la Reine. This boutique hotel has a lovely little courtyard with ivy covered facades! It’s very romantic and you can enjoy the restaurant in the courtyard even if you are not staying at the hotel.
Place des Vosges is located in the area named Le Marais, my favorite neighborhood in Paris! I highly recommend you to walk around here!
Address: Place des Vosges 75004 Paris
Closest Metro stations: St Paul (line 1)
Square du Vert Galant
Are you looking for a secret romantic spot in Paris? Then you will love Square du Vert Galant! This picturesque garden situated in the center of Paris by the Pont Neuf is still rather unknown by the tourists. You can find there a picturesque weeping willow and it’s a perfect spot to watch the boats on the Seine, the Musée du Louvre and the Hôtel de la Monnaie!!
Once you are on the bridge Pont Neuf, take the stairs to go down and you find the square. As it is quiet, for sure you will enjoy a lovely time there!
Address: 15 Place du Pont Neuf, 75001 Paris
Closest Metro stations: Pont Neuf (line 7)
More info: Square du Vert Galant
Parc des Buttes Chaumont
You can find the Buttes-Chaumont Park in the north-east of Paris. With its 25 hectares, it is one of the biggest garden in Paris. This green space is full of treasures: caves and waterfalls, a suspended bridge, an artificial lake, and break areas where you can get something to eat. The most romantic spot of the park is the Temple de la Sibylle (inspired by the Temple of Vesta in Tivoli, Italy), perched at the top of a cliff above the artificial lake. From up here you can appreciate stunning views of Paris!
Address: 1 rue Botzaris 75019 Paris
Closest Metro stations: Botzaris (line 7B), Buttes Chaumont (line 7B), and Laumière (line 5)
more info: Parc des Buttes Chaumont
Bridge of Bir Hakeim
Pont de Bir Hakeim is a bridge that crosses the Seine river. Not only it has a pretty unique architecture, but it also offers an amazing viewpoint for the Eiffel Tower!
Many famous movies have featured the bridge, like Inception. It is highly photogenic and part of the most romantic places of Paris!
Address: Pont de Bir Hakeim 75015 Paris.
Closest Metro stations: Bir Hakeim or Passy line 6, and RER C Station Champs de Mars Tour Eiffel.
Parc Monceau
The Parc Monceau, located not far from the Champs Elysées, is very pleasant to walk in! It includes a collection of scaled-down architectural features, or follies — including an Egyptian pyramid, a Chinese fort, a Dutch windmill, and Corinthian pillars! You will find many pretty corners and cannot but enjoy this romantic place in Paris!
Address: 35 Boulevard de Courcelles 75008 Paris
Closest Metro stations: Monceau (line 2), Villiers (line 2 and 3), Malesherbes (line 3)
More info: Parc Monceau
